I never invited Arley into my abode.
I grieve for your loss. I presume too much.

GregGregnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3077660523915435367.post-68633122507911751262013-07-06T00:40:18.712-07:002013-07-06T00:40:18.712-07:00I hardly knew Arley, and that's my fault. He m...I hardly knew Arley, and that's my fault. He made me uncomfortable, but not in the way you might think. He was a perpetual reminder of how greatly God loves each and every one of us. How is this discomforting?

I have always entertained a mental ascent to the idea that God cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. I entertained the premise that God knows the number of hairs on my head and has even kept track of the great many I have lost.

But God made it all more concrete to me one day, when He asked me, "What lengths do you think I would go to in order to rescue Arley?" Of course I considered the obvious theological responses on the subject of salvation. But, I sensed God was asking a leading question so I said, "Show me."

God allowed me to vaguely perceive just a few of the innumerable arrangements He had made to break into Arley's life. God asked me, "Do you imagine I would have inspired Loren Cunningham to start YWAM with my Hobo friend in sight? Is there any chance that I brought forth New Hope Fellowship with Arley as objective? Do you think I would have moved Aaron and Chris thousands of miles just for my son Arley?"

With joy and enthusiasm I answered, "Yes."

Then God asked me, "What lengths do you think I would go to in order rescue you?"

With awe and wonder I shuddered.

I hardly knew Arley, and that's my fault.
